CLARK:
Clark always seemed to be a rather good student while I was there
implementing the Healing Species. In fact, he knew the answers
to the questions that I asked, and he always offered to help
with anything that I needed. It was much to my surprise, however,
to find that Clark was actually the typical class clown and always
a discipline problem. He never paid attention in the regular
class sessions and constantly “acted out” by disrupting
class with snide remarks and crude attempts to force his classmates
to laugh. As a result, Clark’s grades were nested in the “D” range.
I have been told, however, that by our 4th week of the Healing
Species, Clark made a most impressive turnaround. He not only
corrected his own discipline problems, but he also became one
of the class leaders in stimulating responsible behavior and
reminding the class to “Keep their Power”. His grades
have improved from a steady “D” to the “A-B” category.
Clark stated that “To get somewhere in life, you have to
be good and act good. If you don’t, you will be nobody.” Clark
gained this epiphany as a result of the Healing Species lessons
and the unconditional love of the dog.
MICHAEL:
Michael’s story is much like many of the students that
go through the lessons of the Healing Species. His father is
abusive to his mother and both parents are constantly bickering
and arguing in front of Michael. His mother informed his teacher
that she was unsure how she “put-up” with stupid
children all day; she did not like children; in fact, she did
not even like her own. Michael clearly had more to handle when
he returned from school than most adults have after a long days
work. Michael decided that he would become a “bully”. On
the second day of classes this year, Michael started a fight
in the hallway. These tendencies grew more and more as time progressed.
That, unfortunately, was only one of Michael’s problems.
His grades were consistently in the failure category. Michael
was on a path that leads to destruction.
Even when the Healing Species lessons were being conducted, he
would always “act-out”. These acts were not violent
or mean, but instead, attention craving. I noticed an extreme
change by about week 5 of the program. I remember his face when
we talked about the fact that the bully had actually been hurt
himself and was just taking that out on anyone else. Michael
seemed dejected, but he also seemed to be pensive. Now Michael’s
parents have decided to get a divorce, and as with any child
going through family upheaval, Michael is lost, scared, angry,
and confused.
Instead of “acting-out” and being the bully, however,
Michael has learned Healing Species' "three steps to keeping your heart":
- tell a trusted adult if someone is hurting you, and keep telling until you get the help you need
- grieve; cry; let your heart break
- put your heart back together by giving love.
Michael has now become a model student. His attitude has changed
drastically, his discipline problems have decreased extremely,
and his grades are now in the “A-B” range. Michael
states that he has learned to Keep his Power and change from
a bad reputation to a good reputation. These are awesome results
that have molded and changed Michael’s life and future. |
